A 28-year-old man has died after an assault at a Hedley concert in Dawson Creek on Valentine's Day.
RCMP say they received a call at 9:30 p.m. about a fight at the Encana Event Center where Hedley was playing a concert.
Five people were fighting, and Mounties say the 28-year-old victim fell to the ground at one point, but the assault continued until a bystander intervened to break up the fight.
The victim was transported to hospital, but he died from his injuries.
RCMP say there was also a second victim who was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Three suspects have been arrested after they were discovered in a "different drinking establishment", say police, and they are currently in custody at the Dawson Creek RCMP detachment.
"At this stage we believe the three males had an altercation with the two victims, said Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer. "The assault continued into the men's washroom where one of the victims was found seriously injured. He has since succumbed to his injuries."
North District Major Crime Unit and the Fort St. John Forensic Identification Unit are on scene investigating as well.
